Dr. Mary Kang

Dr. Mary Kang is a rare, dental specialist with advanced training in Prosthodontics, and two different Maxillofacial Prosthetics fellowships. Upon completing 4-years of dental school, she opted to further her education by participating in a General Practice Residency Program, and then a 3- year Post-Graduate specialty training in Prosthodontics. Dr. Kang was encouraged by her mentors and faculty during her Post-Graduate training to sub-specialize in a Maxillofacial Prosthetics Fellowship, a subspeciality of Prosthodontics focused on rehabilitating patients with head and neck cancer, trauma, and congenital deformities.

Upon completing her Prosthodontics specialty training, Dr. Kang moved to California to sub-specialize in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) where she spent her time fabricating obturators, nasal, orbital/ocular, auricular, and facial prostheses. She was encouraged by the director of the program at the time, to further her education on rehabilitating head and neck patients with the surgical aspect. Thus, she continued her training to serve patients with congenital and/or developed deformities of the head and neck region by participating in an Oncologic-Based Maxillofacial Implant Fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

During the 2nd fellowship, Dr. Kang spent many hours in the operating room placing implants in the head and neck cancer, trauma, and congenitally deformed patients, to prepare them for their prosthetic rehabilitations. Dr. Kang is only a handful of dentists that have specialized in Prosthodontics, Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and the Oncologic Based Maxillofacial Implant fellowships upon completing dental school and General Practice Residency.

With her unique and vast experience, Dr. Kang was recruited back to her Alma Mater, New York University College of Dentistry, to teach at the Ashman Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry department. There, she educates the future generation of dentists on complex implant restorations. Having worked with many patients facing life and death situations, Dr. Kang has focused her life as a healthcare provider by Paying it Forward. Paying it forward to her students and colleagues by sharing her knowledge and experience. And paying it forward to her patients in private practice by serving their Prosthetic and Maxillofacial Prosthetic needs.
