Dr. Gerald Niznick
Dr. Gerald Niznick has trained thousands of dentists around the world on placing and restoring implants and has received 32 US patents in the field of Implant Dentistry. In 1966 Dr. Niznick graduated from the University of Manitoba Dental School, now called the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry.

He earned a Master’s degree in Prosthodontics at Indiana University in 1968. Dr. Niznick has received Honorary Doctorate degrees from the University of Manitoba and from Tel Aviv University for his significant contributions to the dentistry.

Dr. Gerald A. Niznick was the founder and President of Core-Vent Dental Implant Company in 1982. He is credited with creating the discipline of Implant Prosthetics with Core-Vent’s development of application specific abutments.

In 1986 Dr. Niznick developed the Screw-Vent implant and patented its internal conicalconnection. In 2004 Dr. Niznick founded Implant Direct and is credited with creating the Value Segment of the of Implant Industry providing implants with All-in-1 packaging for simplicity and cost savings. Dr. Niznick sold 75°/o of Implant Direct to Sybron in 2010 and remained as president of through 2013 when he sold the balance of his shares.

Today, Dr. Niznick’s Screw-Vent Implants are still sold by Zimmer Biomed and his Implant Direct Implants are sold by Implant Direct, a devision of NobelBiocare.

In 2007, Dr. Niznick received Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity’s highest honor, the Achievement Medal, at its Centennial Convention in Israel for his significant contributions to the dental implant field. The United States Department of Veterans Affairs issued a commendation to Dr. Niznick for conceiving and funding the largest dental clinical study, encompassing treatment of over 900 patients with about 3000 implants.

In 2005, Barron’s Magazine referred to Dr. Niznick as “a prosthodontist and entrepreneur who is considered by many as the godfather of American implant dentistry”.
