Dr. Jeffrey Elo

Dr. Jeffrey Elo is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a tenured Full Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the College of Dental Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences; and is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. In addition, he is Professor of Clinical Surgery at the California University of Science and Medicine School of Medicine; and is Adjunct Faculty for the Urgent Care Fellowship at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.

Dr. Elo has served as a section chair, board examiner, and content expert for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a past President of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and currently serves as Treasurer. He is also a Delegate to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Elo is the Editor-in-Chief of The California Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and he has also co-authored several legislative bills that have become law in the state of California. He has authored over 140 publications, including a textbook (Oral Surgery for Dental Students, A Quick Reference Guide [2019]), book chapters, journal articles, abstracts, and posters; and has given numerous presentations throughout the United States and around the world. Dr. Elo is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and was the recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Member Award in 2016 from Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Elo obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry. He completed his specialty residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center/School of Dentistry. He obtained a Master of Science from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry with his thesis entitled, "Implant Success in Distracted Versus Autogenous Grafted Sites."

Dr. Elo maintains active hospital staff appointments at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. His surgical interests include maxillofacial trauma surgery, oral and maxillofacial pathology and reconstruction, preprosthetic bone graft reconstruction, management of complex medical patients, intravenous deep sedation, dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, and corrective jaw surgery.

Dr. Elo is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Dentists, and International College of Dentists.
